MONDRAGON ASSEMBLY ACQUIRES GOROSABEL GROUP’S SOLAR BUSINESS
Consolidates its sector position and becomes an international reference in the production of photovoltaic panel construction lines.
Mondragon Assembly, the automation solution specialist cooperative, recently acquired Gorosabel Group’s solar business. Gorosabel Group, a player in the solar sector is located in Mendaro (Gipuzkoa).
Mondragon Assembly has strengthened its position with this move, and become a reference in the solar sector globally, offering a broader range of products and an improved position in the international market.

Shared experience
Both Mondragon Assembly and Gorosabel have had a share of the market for over a decade, offering machinery and turnkey solutions on all five continents. Today, following the transfer of its solar division to Mondragon Assembly, the Guipuzkoa cooperative now boasts the experience and knowledge of a significant competitor, Gorosabel, including its customer portfolio and broad range of products in an attempt to improve its offer, both technological and commercial, for the production of photovoltaic panel construction lines..
Similarly, Mondragon Assembly is now responsible for the development of new products in the Gorosabel range and will now provide technical support and repair services for existing installations around the world.
About Mondragon Assembly. Founded in 1988, the Aretxabaleta (Gipuzkoa) based cooperative has a workforce of over 200 people. Its main activity is the automation of industrial assembly processes through the integration of different technologies. It has a significant international presence, with factories in Germany, France, Mexico and China. In 2013 turnover totalled 35 million euros, with international sales accounting for 88% of the total.
About Gorosabel Group. Founded in 1957, and located in Mendaro (Gipuzkoa) with a workforce of over 50 people, the Gorosabel Group has emerged from the insolvency proceedings it was obliged to resort to as a consequence of the big drop in the capital equipment market for photovoltaic panel manufacturers in China, resizing and restructuring its businesses and focusing on industrial automation activity for all manner of processes and equipment including handling, automation and robotics systems, offering a comprehensive solution for the development of custom applications. The company’s resizing, together with its high degree of specialisation, experience and knowledge in these fields, enables it to face the future with solvency. It is expected to close the 2014 period with sales of 6 million euros.
